Gebna Makleyah (egyptian Oven-fried Cheese)

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 egg
  • salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • lemon wedge (optional, for serving)
  • pita bread, cut into triangles (optional, for serving)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°.
  • 2 place the cheese, flour, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl and mix well with very clean hands. roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. if the mixture seems too loose to hold its shape, add a little more flour. if the mixture seems too dry, add a bit of lemon juice, vinegar, or water.
  • 3 pour 2 or 3 tablespoons olive oil onto a cookie sheet to grease. arrange the cheese balls on cookie sheet, rolling them around to coat thoroughly with the oil. bake 5 minutes at 400°.
  • 4 wearing an oven mitt, shake the baking sheet to turn the cheese balls, and bake 5 more minutes or until golden brown.
  • 5 with a spatula, transfer the cheese balls to a paper towel.
  • 6 serve the cheese balls while still warm, with lemon wedges and triangles of pita bread.

Jello Pastel Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups butter or 1 1/2 cups margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages jell-o brand gelatin, any flavor, divided
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°f
  • 2 mix flour and baking powder; set aside.
  • 3 beat butter in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until creamy.
  • 4 gradually add sugar and 1 pkg. of the dry gelatin, beating until light and fluffy.
  • 5 add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  • 6 gradually add flour mixture, beating until well blended after each addition.
  • 7 shape dough into 1-inch balls.
  • 8 place, 2 inches apart, on ungreased baking sheets.
  • 9 flatten with bottom of clean glass.
  • 10 sprinkle with remaining dry gelatin.
  • 11 bake 8 to 10 minute or until edges are lightly browned.
  • 12 remove from baking sheets to wire racks.
  • 13 cool completely.
  • 14 store in tightly covered container at room temperature.

Snow-topped Holiday Brownie Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup nestle toll house baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 10 ounces nestle toll house holiday shapes and morsels, divided
  • 2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • 2 combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in medium bowl.
  • 3 microwave butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl on high (100%) power 1 minute; stir until melted.
  • 4 stir in sugar and water. stir in eggs and vanilla extract.
  • 5 gradually stir in flour mixture. stir in 1 cup shapes & morsels. spread into prepared baking pan.
  • 6 bake 18 to 25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky.
  • 7 cool completely in pan on wire rack. spread with whipped topping. sprinkle with remaining shapes & morsels.
  • 8 refrigerate until serving time. cut into bars.

Jelly (jello) Slice (bar)

Ingredients

  • 250 g plain sweet biscuits (cookies)
  • 185 g butter, melted
  • 400 g sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 lemons, juice of
  • 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 3/4 cup water (dissolve gelatin in this)
  • 85 g jello gelatin (jelly)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water

Recipe

  • 1 combine crushed biscuits and butter mixing well; press into greased 30cm x 23cm (12" x 9") pan and refrigerate.
  • 2 combine condensed milk, lemon juice and gelatin mix.
  • 3 mix well and pour over prepared base; refrigerate 2 hours.
  • 4 mix jelly powder and boiling water together, then add cold water.
  • 5 refrigerate until consistency of unbeaten egg , pour over lemon layer.
  • 6 refrigerate, then cut into squares when set.
  • 7 *i prefer a red jelly for this, but any flavour would be ok.

Quick Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 (8 ounce) cans crescent rolls
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh broccoli, chopped small
  • 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped small
  • 1/2 cup cauliflower, chopped small
  • 1/8 cup green onion top, chopped small
  • 1 radish, chopped small
  • 1/2 cup carrot, chopped small
  • 1/4 cup bacon, crumbled or 1/4 cup bacon bits

Recipe

  • 1 spread crescent rolls on a cookie sheet.cook at 375* for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 2 set aside and let cool.
  • 3 mix next 5 ingredients until creamy and spread over the cooled crust.
  • 4 top with a layer of each veggie.
  • 5 keep refrigerated.

Oatmeal - Flax Seed Meal Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 3/4 cups flour (i use unbleached)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups oatmeal (can use either quick or old fashioned)
  • 1/2 cup flax seed meal
  • 1 (8 ounce) bag toffee pieces (heath bits is the only kind we have here)
  • 1 cup generous rough chopped pecans

Recipe

  • 1 mix first five ingredients well. add flour and baking soda and blend well. add oats and flax seed meal and mix until well blended. mix in toffee chips and pecans.
  • 2 drop with tablespoon on parchment lined cookie sheets. bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned around edges. remove and cool on cookie rack.
