Grandma's Peanut Brittle

Ingredients
- Servings: 30
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 pint water
- 1 lb peanuts
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
Recipe
- 1 in a heavy 2 quart saucepan, over medium heat, bring to a boil sugar, vanilla and water.
- 2 stir until sugar is dissolved.
- 3 stir in peanuts.
- 4 set candy thermometer in place, and continue cooking. stir frequently until temperature reaches 300 degrees f (150 degrees c), or until hardens when dropped in water.
- 5 remove from heat; immediately stir in baking soda.
- 6 pour immediately onto cookie sheet.
- 7 lift and pull peanut mixture( i do this with 2 forks) into rectangle about 14x12 inches.
- 8 let cool.
- 9 snap candy into pieces.
