My Mother's Glazed Nuts

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups nuts
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • 2 beat egg whites.
  • 3 add powdered sugar (and optional brown sugar) and beat the egg mixture until stiff.
  • 4 add vanilla extract.
  • 5 fold in nuts to coat with the glaze.
  • 6 spread melted butter on a cookie sheet.
  • 7 sprinkle nuts on buttered cookie sheet and spread them out.
  • 8 put nuts in oven and stir every 10 minutes (to avoid burning) until they are crispy and a light cream color.
  • 9 sprinkle lightly with salt to taste.
  • 10 allow to cool.
