Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients

  • Servings: 28
  • 1/2 lb margarine or 1/2 lb butter, softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 2 1/2 cups quaker oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
  • 4 cups chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 375°f in large bowl, beat margarine and sugars until creamy. add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. add combined flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. add oats, chocolate chips and nuts, if desired; mix well.
  • 2 refrigerate at least one hour.
  • 3 drop dough by 1/4 cup measuring cup onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • 4 bake 9 to 10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for a crisp cookie. cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. cool completely. store tightly covered.
