Oatmeal Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients

- 1/2 lb margarine or 1/2 lb butter, softened
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 2 1/2 cups quaker oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
- 4 cups chocolate chips
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 375°f in large bowl, beat margarine and sugars until creamy. add eggs, milk and vanilla; beat well. add combined flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. add oats, chocolate chips and nuts, if desired; mix well.
- 2 refrigerate at least one hour.
- 3 drop dough by 1/4 cup measuring cup onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- 4 bake 9 to 10 minutes for a chewy cookie or 12 to 13 minutes for a crisp cookie. cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire rack. cool completely. store tightly covered.
