Peanut Brittle

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup light karo syrup
  • 2 cups raw peanuts
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 in iron frying pan, mix the sugar,syrup, water and salt.
  • 2 bring this to a boil.
  • 3 add the peanuts and cook over med-high heat stirring constantly approx.
  • 4 15 minutes.
  • 5 do not scorch.
  • 6 peanuts will crack.
  • 7 when mixture turns golden, remove from heat and add baking soda.
  • 8 pour onto a greased cookie sheet and cool.
  • 9 break into pieces when cool.
