Klaicha Iraqi Date Cookies

Ingredients

• 3 cups flour
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 cup butter
• 3 teaspoons orange flower water
• 1/4 cup water
• 8 ounces dates, pitted
• 2 tablespoons butter

Recipe

• 1 sift flour and sugar; cut in butter.
• 2 mix orange flower water and water together.
• 3 pour in butter mixture; knead until smooth.
• 4 let dough rest 35 minutes.
• 5 chop dates small. simmer in pan with butter until dates are soft, really low, stir.
• 6 pinch off dough size of walnut.
• 7 roll out flat; add teaspoon of date mixture; roll up around; score with fork pretty pattern.
• 8 bake at 325 degrees fahrenheit for 30 minutes.
