Great-grandma Ann's Danish Criss Cross Cookies

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Recipe

  • 1 cream together butter and crisco.
  • 2 add sugar and cream together.
  • 3 add slightly beaten egg and vanilla.
  • 4 mix dry ingredients then sift in a little at a time to the butter mixture.
  • 5 roll into small balls then flatten with a moistened fork.
  • 6 bake in a moderate oven (325) until slightly browned on a greased cookie sheet.
