Mississippi Mud Cake

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup crisco
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1 1/2 cups flour (if using self-rising flour, omit the salt)
- 4 eggs
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1 (12 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
- 3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine
- 0.75 (16 ounce) bag powdered sugar, to taste
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/4 cup carnation instant milk
- 1 cup nuts (optional)
Recipe
- 1 cream sugar and cocoa with crisco.
- 2 add eggs one at a time, beating well.
- 3 stir dry ingredients and add to mixture.
- 4 add nuts and vanilla.
- 5 bake in long pan (13 x 9 works) or cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 300 degrees.
- 6 mix icing while cake is baking.
- 7 remove from oven and cover with marshmallows.
- 8 return to oven for 10 minutes.
- 9 remove from oven and cool 20 minutes.
- 10 cover with icing.
