Pecan Sandies

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, chopped fine

Recipe

  • 1 pre-heat oven to 325.
  • 2 in a large bowl cream shortening, sugar and salt.
  • 3 add the eggs and beat well.
  • 4 slowly add the flour, baking soda and water.
  • 5 add pecans to the dough and knead with your hands until pecans are well blended.
  • 6 roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place on cookie sheet.
  • 7 press down with a drinking glass.
  • 8 cookies should be about 2 inches round, 1/2 inch thick.
  • 9 bake for 25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown-watch the bottoms.
