Ginger Cream Cookies

Total Time: 1 hr 8 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 8 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 cream the shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and water.
  • 2 mix in the flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon.
  • 3 cover and chill for 1 hour.
  • 4 preheat oven to 400 degrees f (205 degrees c).
  • 5 drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.
  • 6 bake for about 8 minutes.
