Melt In Your Mouth Meltaways - Butter Meltaway Cookies!

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • additional sugar

Recipe

  • 1 in a mixing bowl, cream butter, oil and sugars; add egg and vanilla and mix.
  • 2 combine flour, baking soda and cream of tartar in a separate bowl; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  • 3 chill for several hours or overnight (i've made these and have only chilled them for 2 hours and they turned out fine, however when i've chilled them for several hours they were perfection!).
  • 4 drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • 5 flatten with a fork dipped in flour; sprinkle with sugar.
  • 6 bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • 7 cool on wire racks.
