Piping Gel (for Decorating Cakes, Cookies Etc)

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water


  • 1 combine sugar and cornstarch in a small saucepan.
  • 2 gradually blend in the lemon juice and then the water.
  • 3 stir over high heat until mixture boils and thickens.
  • 4 color as desired.
  • 5 store the mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
  • 6 if it becomes too thick, stir in a tiny amount of water, a little at a time until gel reaches a pipe-able consistency.
