Rich Oat Cookies 1968

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup crisco shortening
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons boiling water
  • 2 cups rolled oats (five or twenty minute)

Recipe

  • 1 measure the flour and salt and set aside.
  • 2 dissolve the baking soda in the boiling water.
  • 3 cream the butter, shortening, blend in the sugar well.
  • 4 add the dissolved soda, then vanilla.
  • 5 add in the dry ingredients, and combine until well blended.
  • 6 shape into small balls 2 inches apart set onto parchment lined cookie sheet. press down with a floured fork.
  • 7 bake in preheated oven 350 degrees, for 10 to 14 minutes, until golden.
